LUGANA

Lake Garda offers its most precious nectar

Lugana is a small, wonderful area right on the southern shores of Lake Garda. From the well-known village of Desenzano, to Peschiera del Garda, Pozzolengo and Lonato the Lugana wine has a truly limited production area, just a little over  1.500 acres (almost 600 hectares), but the flavor of Lugana wines, the traditional, Superiore and Spumante versions are appreciated in Italy and worldwide.

PRODUCTION SITES:  Lugana is produced on the moronic hills to the south of Lake Garda between the villages of Pozzolengo and Sirmione. The soil is quite argillaceous due to its glacial origin. It is produced in limited quantities from selected white grape Trebbiano di Lugana (100%).

COLOUR: The colour of Lugana ranges from a typical bright straw yellow to a greenish shade, which gets a golden reflection with aging.

AROMA:  The aroma is immediately recognizable, thanks to the well balanced notes anticipating the unmistakably sapid, well structured flavor and a great personality. It has a delicate smell, characteristic and fresh. Its bouquet of flowers reaches the nose instantly.

TASTE:
It is a fresh, pleasant and full-bodied white wine. Its taste is typically dry and lively.

PAIRINGS:  Excellent wine to be drank with light fish based starters, fish risottos and any kind of lacustrine fish such as the typical Garda fish: eel, trout and coregone. Try it with vegetable omlets as well!

GRADATION:
Minimum alcoholic gradation is 11,5%.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: To be served cold in a middle-sized goblet at 8-10 Cº.

GLASS: It should be served in medium tulip glasses.

AGEING: No real ageing needed. To boast the Superior qualification it needs just one year ageing.

EVENTS:  “Luganeggiando” is the festival completely dedicated to this wine precious to Lake Garda shores that takes place in Peschiera del Garda the first days of June.
