TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE
 
Trentino Alto Adige (South Tirol), is the autonomous and the most northern region of the peninsula. It is located inthe heart of the Alpine arch and wherever you are it offers you strikingmountainous sceneries including the majestically Dolomite group and a largenumber of small and big alpine lakes.
The Adige river is the second longestriver in Italy and it descends from an alpine lake high in the Dolomites nearthe Austrian border and runs through the center of the region creating abeautiful valley called Val d'Adige.
Trentino is officially bilingual;many people speak correctly both Italian and German and this is the consequenceof hundreds of years under the Austrian empire domain. Trentino and south Tirolare famous for the production of apples and wines and thanks to the beautifulpeaks the region has greatly developed the tourist industry creating winterresorts such as Madonna di Campiglio and hundreds of wellness and SPA resorts.
 
 
CITIES

Trento is the capital of the region; the only otherprovince in Trentino is the independent province of Bolzano endowed with aspecial statute. Bolzano in even the seat of the local government. Othercenters are Merano, the main town of Tirol, Bressanone, Brunico and Rovereto.

Most of the almost 50 castles you can find in Trentino are extraordinarily well preserved and open to visitors. 
The cultural role of Bolzano is visible in the variety of its buildings and events, with its International flavor. Its world of music offers the Conservatorio Monteverdi, where the pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli taught. There are daily symphonies at the Auditorium Hayden and rock and pop music at the ice palace Palaonda and at the sport palace Pararesia.
The city today is not far from being a real European capital, a city of deals and a link between the northern and the Mediterranean culture.
